This past Sunday (May 19th, '24) We held our second official Bible Book Club. First I'd like to say that these have been my favorite church-related activities. It’s just a great time to be amongst friends, open up in our understanding with open-minded people. Everyone is after the same thing which is fellowship, a better understanding of God's word and a good time amongst friends. It's simple, it's fun, and I love it! I'm beyond grateful to be a part of them.
With that in mind, I'd like to offer what God ministered to me while hanging in da club....Ahem, the Bible Book Club of course! (I know, I know. Great joke, am I right!?) And away we go!
We studied the book of Esther. I greatly enjoyed having read the book, and our study of it. One thing I learned is that the placement of people where God wants them to be in order to carry out His promises for others is so amazing in this book. Where life can seem like just coincidences, God is executing His perfect plan for you. However, I feel it’s our willingness to say “yes” to God when it comes to his directing our footsteps. Some circumstances may not seem conventional, and others may seem like a direction we don’t want to go in. There are also times where life makes total sense and direction is easy to follow. Still, staying attuned to God, keeping your focus on Him, knowing His will His, His Word, His ways and being filled with His Holy Spirit will always point you toward the right direction. It will always get you toward the right location. Following direction and making decisions doesn’t always come without its difficulties. It’s not always hard, but it’s also not always easy. However, when following God you can be confident that you’re going the right way, even if that path looks like you’re going the wrong way.
Esther did, just that, and this book has a few areas that you could easily question, but then God shows us that He was the guide all along. Some seemingly unconventional decisions, and circumstances led to the saving of the Jews in the multiple provinces of King Xerxes at the time. Life for you might not always look like a perfectly aligned puzzle, it might even appear to be scattered where you can’t really band out the image, but your obedience to God is a blessing that will make it all clear at God’s perfect time.
Consider this, your obeying God regardless of circumstances is also a benefit to the people around you, and people who don’t even know were there. Even people you may never even meet. Esther’s obedience helped Mordecai and others in her province who she knew personally. The others in distant provinces also were benefited who had possibly never even seen her before, yet they received due to her saying yes to God. I want you to do the same, because that yes echoes blessings which may spread farther than you may ever know or see. Your yes to God is very powerful!
Great Bible study this past Sunday! I learned so much that I was already able to apply to my life immediately and I can’t wait for the next one!
